ARE YOU AN ORGANIZER? READ THIS. Hands Across America happened in 1986 because thousands of local organizers made it real in their own communities. We need you to do the same thing for 2026. ─────────────────────── THE ASK IS SIMPLE Get your organization to participate on May 25, 2026 at 3 PM Eastern. That's it. How you do it is up to you.A bridge. A park. A main street. A parking lot. An entire city or town. Your family and friends BBQ. Big or small — it all counts. ─────────────────────── THIS TIME, EVERY CHAIN COUNTS The 1986 version tried to form one unbroken chain across the entire country. Gaps appeared. Rural areas were left out. People who didn't live along the route couldn't participate. Not this time. This version is thousands of local chains happening simultaneously across the country. Every city, town, neighborhood, and backyard that shows up at 3 PM is its own link in a national moment. You don't have to connect to anyone else physically. You just have to show up. That said — if your city WANTS to go big and form the longest documented chain in America? We are absolutely here for that. #LongestChainAmerica — document it, post it, let America see what your city is made of. ─────────────────────── WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT? Start with organizations that already have people, spaces, and communication networks: CIVIC GROUPS Rotary Club, Lions Club, Kiwanis, Elks Lodge, VFW, American Legion, YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs FAITH COMMUNITIES Churches, mosques, synagogues, temples — any congregation that gathers regularly already has the infrastructure SCHOOLS & UNIVERSITIES Student governments, PTAs, faculty organizations — especially around Memorial Day events already planned COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS United Way affiliates, Habitat for Humanity chapters, food banks, homeless shelters — organizations already serving their communities CIVIC & COMMUNITY NETWORKS Neighborhood associations, civic leagues, local advocacy groups of any political stripe — if you believe this country is worth showing up for, you belong here. This isn't about left or right. It belongs to all of us. LABOR UNIONS Already have membership lists, communication channels, and history of collective action ─────────────────────── HOW TO PITCH IT Keep it simple. Use these talking points:
WHAT WE'RE NOT
Not a protest Not a rally Not affiliated with any party or candidate Not asking for money ───────────────────────
WHEN YOU LOCK IN YOUR LOCATION Post it in the comments with your city and state so others can find you and join. Use #HandsAcrossAmerica2 so we can find each other. Share this page everywhere: https://www.facebook.com/HandsAcrossAmerica2.0/
─────────────────────── The 1986 version had 9 months and a staff of 400. We launched this on March 21, 2026 — 65 days out. We have social media, activated communities nationwide, and a country that's ready to remember who we are. Let's get to work. #ReuniteAmerica #OperationReuniteAmerica #May25 #MemorialDay2026 #LongestChainAmerica |

40 years ago, 6.5 million Americans stepped outside and
held hands across this country.
Not because they agreed on everything.
Because they were Americans first.
On May 25, 2026 — the 40th anniversary — we're doing it again.
No agenda. No party. No politics.
Just Americans, standing next to each other for 5 minutes.
───────────────────────
3:00 PM Eastern / 2 PM Central / 1 PM Mountain / Noon Pacific
Show up wherever you are.
───────────────────────
HERE'S THE THING ABOUT 1986
The original Hands Across America formed a chain across
specific cities along a specific route. If you didn't live
near that route, you were left out.
Not this time.
This version belongs to everyone, everywhere.
No route. No required chain. No travel required.
If you're breathing on May 25th, you're invited.
───────────────────────
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
ORGANIZE YOUR CITY OR TOWN
Form a chain on a bridge, along a main street, at a park,
waterfront, or town square. Reach out to local civic groups,
churches, schools, veterans organizations.
Get your block together. Even 20 people holding hands on a
sidewalk is a statement.
WHEREVER YOU ALREADY ARE
At a cookout? A family gathering? Step outside at 3 PM,
hold hands for 5 minutes, and go back to your burgers.
That counts. That matters.
There is no wrong way to do this.
There is no minimum size.
There is no right location.
Just show up somewhere with someone at 3 PM.
───────────────────────
THE LONGEST CHAIN CHALLENGE
Think your city can go bigger?
We want to see the longest documented human chain in
America on May 25th. Cities, towns, neighborhoods —
organize your people, measure your chain, and post
your video and photos with #LongestChainAmerica.
Could your city stretch for a mile? Five miles?
Could an entire small state link up end to end?
There's only one way to find out.
Document it. Post it. Let America decide who wins.
───────────────────────
THE ONLY RULES
American flags welcome
No party signs
No candidate signs
No political flags of any kind
his belongs to everyone or it belongs to no one.

It's a reminder.
We've done this before.
We can do it again.
